Just returned from another excellent and really enjoyable week (13-20th July 2019). Missing the peace and tranquility already !😂 As always can't wait to return to Mark Cottage next year as it never disappoints with the outstanding views, surroundings, animals and wild-life which we never get bored of. Thanks to Helen, Ashley and family for making our holiday so enjoyable, really looking forward to our 5th visit in 2020 ! Counting the days down already 😊😊😊😊
Just back from another great holiday in Pibble. It is so peaceful with fabulous views. There are so many places to visit and things to do.
We will be back.
We are just back from another excellent holiday at Pibble Cottage - this is our 12th visit in 8 years! As always the minute you come up the road and see Pibble Cottage all the stress you have goes completely. The first words we say when we go into the cottage is "We are home again!".
Weather was a bit mixed this time but didn't stop us from doing plenty of sight seeing - our first visit was to Garlieston on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the DDay landings - a lovely harbor village in Wigtownshire where they tested the mulberries for the D Day landings. Then it was a trip to Port Patrick for a picnic and a hour spent in the amusement arcade to play the tipping point 2p machine and lovely ice cream. We did a longer trip to the Devil's Porridge Exhibition in Annan where you learn about the largest ammunition's factory during World War One.
The cottage, as always, was just perfect and the scones and jam on arrival was most welcome. The warm welcome we always get from Helen, Ashley and the children never changes they make you feel part of their family and they are part of ours. Only bad bit was leaving to come home. Only consolation is it's only 96 sleeps until our second visit of the year. The Hendrys x
We had a fabulous week's stay at Pibble Cottage March 2019, beautiful location, stunning scenery & wildlife. Cottage is secluded but only a short drive from shops, pubs, cafes etc. The Galloway Forest is a Dark Sky Park so the skies are amazing, there’s plenty to do in the area, red deer park is a great place to visit where you can feed the deers. The cottage has everything you need & more, the welcome basket was a lovely touch, fresh farm eggs, bread, homemade jam & a bottle of bubbly which was very nice while sat in the sun room. On the farm there is a great walk up to Pibble Loch & the old mine. My little granddaughter absolutely loved being on the farm playing in the fields & cuddles with the calf & lamb. Helen, Ashley & their kids were great hosts & nothing was too much trouble for them. If peace, quiet & tranquility is what you need then this is the place to stay. The Walker Family
Returned from another great holiday on the farm, all relaxed and recharged.
Visited some lovely places, including taking a trip over to Belfast, definetly worth doing if you get the chance (very long day)
Pibble Cottage looks fantastic following the bathroom refurb, new sofas and the games room.
We have been holidaying on the farm 7 times now and each time we manage to fill 2 weeks with amazing days out, always something to do.
Thanks Helen and Family once again.

Had a great week in Mark Cottage which had everything we needed. A clean comfortable cottage and the owners are very helpful. Will return soon.
Just returned from our 3rd visit to Mark Cottage (July 2018), fantastic stay as always ! Never bored of the scenery and wildlife on the doorstep, what a excellent place to relax and unwind. Still find places to visit even though we have been coming to this wonderful part of Scotland for the last 10 years plus.
Thanks to Helen , Ashley and family which includes Shinga for making once again our holiday most enjoyable and relaxing. Missing the peace and tranquility already. Really love and appreciate the alterations to the cottage, walk in shower, lovely picture window and the barbeque area which we love !
Will definitely be making our 4th visit in 2019 , counting down the weeks already - Elaine, Paul, Craig and Yvonne ( Leicester)
Just back from our second holiday in Pibble. We were there two weeks this time but it still flew over.
We love staying here. The house is so comfortable and the surroundings are lovely - I can't think of anything that could make your stay better.
We've already booked for two weeks next summer and can't wait to come back.
Just had 2 weeks at Pibble Cottage. Fantastic!! Cottage very comfortable a home from home. Enjoyed the scenery and the peace and quiet and the antics of the lambs. Helen and Ashley really friendly hosts. Our first time, arrived as strangers left as friends. Already booked for next year.
Just returned from our week staying on Mark Farm at Pibble Cottage with Ian (husband), three teenagers and Cassie the dog. What a fantastic week we have had, the cottage was amazing, very welcoming, clean and cosy with everything you could need or want for your stay. Ashley and Helen are very friendly hosts, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The views are amazing and lots of lovely walks right from the cottage door, we loved the walk up to Pibble Loch especially. Lots of interesting place to visit in the area we liked Wigtown ( the book town), Mossyard beach and Galloway forest park. The teenagers staying loved feeding the orphan lambs and the Galloway cattle and the visits from Shinga the Jack Russell (Elle and Kieron wanted to bring him home with us !) We are already planning when we can come back. Thank you for a lovely holiday
We stayed at Pibble Cottage over New Year 2017 . Lovely warm welcome on arrival. This was our first visit to Pibble Cottage and it was fabulous - lovely, warm, very comfortable and well equipped. Yvonne, me and alfie our dog all enjoyed the freedom on the farm ,a great week walking around often with Shinga in tow, walking up to Pibble Loch and the hills around. Great relaxing peaceful week, loved returning to the conservatory to watch the wildlife and weather go by and the stars which were amazing. Thanks Helen and Ashley for your hospitality - will definitely return. Sid, Yvonne and Alfie
We have just arrived back home after an absolutely brilliant week on the farm staying in Pibble Cottage. We have stayed in Mark Cottage once and Pibble Cottage for the 4th time now and have fully enjoyed every holiday.
This year we visited many places around the local area - Mossyard Pottery ( This was really fun and they post your master pieces to you, so no damages on the way home), Cocoabean Chocolate factory and some of the local villages. We even managed to make a trip over to Edinburgh to visit the Castle and Royal Yacht (Long drive, but so worth it)
I would recommend anyone to stay on the farm, it never gets boring, each year we have been, we have done something different during our stay, the games room in the garage is a great place to end your evening or even a stroll to Pibble Loch.
We have already enquired about next years booking and we have only been home for 5 hours.
Thank you Helen, Ashley and the Children, you make us feel so welcome on the farm and it draws us back year after year, thank you for being such amazing hosts and having such a gem in Creetown.
Thank you and see you soon
Chris and Family
Just returned from another fantastic holiday staying at Mark cottage (15th-22nd July) weather was good, loads of great places to visit, views and wildlife amazing. Enjoyed our barbecues in the garden whilst watching the belted galloways who provided the entertainment ! It's just a great place to relax and unwind. Thanks to Helen (especially for the cakes 😊) Ashley and of course Shinga for making our holiday very enjoyable, hope to return again next year, Elaine, Paul, Craig and Yvonne (Leicester)
As usual, we had a lovely break at Pibble cottage, the weather was kind to us and we got out and about, visited Galloway Cream and the Chocolate factory as well as a couple of local beaches, also had nice strolls around Mark Farm and nice meals at the castle pub at the caravan park on the edge of Creetown. All in all we had a very relaxing time, fresh air and winding down in beautiful surroundings! We made good use of the games room of an evening!
Thanks Helen and Ashley for a lovely holiday once again, in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, "We'll be back"
We've just spent a great week at Pibble. It was our first visit but we've already booked for two weeks next summer.
The house is very comfortable with wonderful views.
We enjoyed spending time with Shinga and look forward to meeting him again.
We can't wait to come back.
We stayed at Pibble cottage and it was First Class. If like bird watching you would be thrilled to bits with them and the views! The Cottage is spotless and so comfortable and spacious. The owners are First Class as well very friendly and welcoming. We are hoping to go again, well I can't wait.thank you for making our holiday so good.
This cottage and farm are out of this world. Spectacular views, wildlife, sunsets, sunrises, places to visit, walks to walk, people and animals to meet.
Hoping to go back soon.
Thankyou for reminding us of the beauty that is on our own doorstep.
We could not have wanted or asked for more.
Be in touch with next booking soon, best wishes Katie, Emma and Jerry xxx
Our first stay in Mark Cottage and we had a super time very comfy and fab views the wood fire was lovely on the chilly nights. We normally stay in Pibble Cottage now for next year we have a problem which one do we book? We may have to come up to Scotland twice and stay in both that would solve it. If you stay in either cottage you will be sure of a warm welcome an plenty of peace and quiet.
One of the best ever holidays...so good we have already booked in for next year! Beautiful scenery, relaxing atmosphere, perfect cottage and the BEST hosts. I have no idea how one holiday can be action packed, hilarious fun and yet soooo relaxing all at the same time! BRILLIANT! :)
Spent a week in Mark cottage July 2016, what a wonderful place to relax and unwind, spectacular views, wonderful wildlife and very friendly owners, couldn't ask for more, weather was very good and we enjoyed the amazing walks around the farm, barbecues in the enclosed garden and loved watching the belted galloways, sheep and the very friendly dog "Shinga" who we befriended, can't wait to return next year !
What a fantastic place to stay! Quiet secluded and in its own little world! Utterly lovely! Plenty to do and see around this area but you wouldn't even have to leave the cottage or its surroundings if you did not want to! The views from the conservatory are wonderful and the walks on the farm itself are beautiful - Helen and Ashley are more than happy for you to explore! Wonderful hosts, very accommodating and a lovely surprise of muffins on our arrival was a nice touch! Rooms are all a good size and the kitchen is very well equipped!
This remote farm cottage (Mark Cottage) is a perfect getaway for those who want to get away from it all. Surrounded by farmland, amazing scenery, farm life and wildlife. The 3 bed cottage has log burner fire, conservatory, well equipped kitchen(with home baking and home made jam from Helen) and a breakfast bar with views over the fields.
"This is our fourth visit to Pibble Cottage and as always it felt like coming home! The cottage is very well equipped and the hosts are excellent - from the minute we arrived we felt totally relaxed! There is so much to see in the surrounding area."
"Love Mark Cottage - the peace and tranquility is refreshing and the views stunning. Hope to come back this coming year!"
"I found this gem (Mark Cottage) by accident and what a find! The owners are a lovely couple who couldn't have done more for us. The property was just what we were looking for - to ultimately relax in the beautiful Dumfries & Galloway countryside."
